I played EQ for about 4-5 years aswell. And as noted forget about traditional MMO's when you play this.

Guildwars as a nice game without the very hard work to reach max level. If you are an old school EQ player you will feel that maxxing your character in 2 days is a joke. Also there isn't much itemiziation except for weapons. You craft your armour at a NPC.

Basically this is a nice game with fast combat without annoying downtimes. And fun if you just want some easier typ of gameplay. It's definately worth the cost considering the no monthly fee. They will make money on the expansions.
